Spedo Elevator Potato Digger Junior
Harvest early-season and delicate potato varieties without bruising or peeling with the Spedo Elevator Potato Digger Junior. Built in Italy by F.lli Spedo — specialists in potato equipment since 1952 — this single-row digger-harvester combines gentle handling with an efficient sorting platform, letting a small crew dig, sort, and pack potatoes in a single pass. Requires just 60 HP to operate, making it a practical fit for mid-size tractors common on small farms, market gardens, and homestead-scale operations.
How It Works
A 3-blade share lifts the row while grass-cutting discs clear plant material and a swinging feeler roller automatically adjusts digging depth to match the terrain. The potatoes pass onto a 600 mm (approximately 24") elevator-sieving belt with intercalated bars that separate soil and debris without rolling or peeling the tubers — critical for thin-skinned early potatoes. From there, the crop moves to an 850 mm (approximately 33") wide sorting platform where workers standing on either side of the belt manually sort potatoes and direct them to the lateral sides. Sorted potatoes are conveyed into bags, crates, or boxes placed on supports at the rear of the machine. Both belts are hydraulically driven for smooth, adjustable speed.
Features
-
Designed for Early and Delicate Potatoes
Intercalated elevator bars prevent tubers from rolling and peeling — protecting thin-skinned varieties that bruise easily.
-
3-Blade Share with Grass-Cutting Discs
Cleanly lifts the row while cutting through plant material and surface growth for a smooth feed into the elevator.
-
Swinging Feeler Roller
Automatically adjusts digging depth to follow ground contour, reducing the chance of cutting potatoes or digging too deep.
-
Wide Sorting Platform (850 mm / 33")
Divided into lateral sorting zones by side plates. Workers on each side manually pick and sort while unwanted material continues down the center of the belt.
-
Hydraulically Driven Belts
Both the sieving elevator and sorting platform run on hydraulic drive for independent speed control and smooth operation.
-
Multiple Container Options
Rear supports accommodate bags, crates, or boxes — use whatever packing method suits your operation.
-
Hydraulic Lateral Offset
Hydraulic side-shift positions the digger for precise row alignment.
