Ripping hard surfaces with Box Blade rippers

First, Be very careful not to put yourself between the tractor and the box blade.
The ripping teeth on the box blade should penetrate on their own and by design.

1. Adjust all the ripper teeth to their deepest (Max depth) ripping position.

2. Lower the box blade to just above the ground.

3. Level the box blade top surfaces by adjusting the TOP LINK (center link) of the three-point hitch. If the top of the implement is level, the ripper teeth and points should be facing downward and forward at an angle that should MAKE THEM DIG IN as deeply as your tractor can have power or traction to pull the load.

4. Lower the three point arms to the "bottom" max. Depth. Then try pulling the load with the tractor at slow speed range, max. rpms.

5. If the rippers are digging to deep or your tractor cannot handle the load (looses rpms-shakes-rattles-and rolls), then I suggest that you remove some rippers, raise the rippers and/or adjust by shortening the TOP LINK to change the rippers teeth angle to a less aggressive degree.

If the teeth were not penetrating at all, I'd try:
1. Adjust by lengthening the TOP LINK to change the ripper's teeth angles to become more aggressive.
2. Sharpen the points, beveled edge up, and flat surface down.
3. Add weight to the box blade.
4. With weight added, start reducing the number of rippers.
5. If you get down to only one ripper left and it still will not penetrate, call us -- We'll talk about a back hoe or dynamite.

Good Luck and have fun but please be careful.

Here is a little personal experience that cost me a lot of embarrassment and $750. Within a period of less than 2 seconds.

Be very careful NOT to raise the box blade without the TOP LINK being secured
in place. If you do, the ripper teeth will suddenly swing forward and destroy the both rear tractor tires and anyone's leg that is standing in their path.
