PTO (the Power Take Off) Explaining the types of PTO's. The PTOs types are really quite easy to understand. I'll take as much time to help you, as you need. Basic -- two
types (current markets)--- Live and Not
Live Live = When operating the tractor, you may come to a neutral travel (no fwd/rev movement) position with the transmission, clutch, speed range shifter w/neutral and/or shuttle control and >>>> the PTO keeps turning. Not Live = the PTO does not keep turning when you stop traveling forward or reverse. Example- most old 40s and 50s tractors and most economy style tractors 70-90's Live PTO are found through use of the following "mechanical applications" on the tractor. 1. Two stage (two position) eng/trans clutch (many other brands and some older Kubota DT models, Long and Kioti) 2. Independent PTO clutch (Kubota DTs -- over 30 hp) 3. Hydrostatic transmission (Kubota HSTs) 4. Fwd / Rev, hydraulic shuttle (with neutral position) (Kubota GSTs) 5. Speed Range shifter with neutral (Kubota GSTs) |
