Year Models? What does NEW really mean?



"The tractor market is not the same as cars and trucks."  Be wiser. First time shoppers.

The auto manufacturers have introduced and sold NEXT YEAR "YEAR MODELS"
beginning in September every year. ie: Year 2000 cars are sold in Sept. of 1999.

Are they Unscrupulous Dealers? Heck no. They've done it since W.W.II  and no 
one ever questioned the practice. Of coarse, the lenders and "BLUE BOOK" 
writers know all the details and take it into consideration.

Is the consumer -- who purchases a BRAND NEW 1999 car from the dealer lot TODAY and tells his neighbor that he just purchased "a new car" --- An UNSCRUPULOUS CAR PURCHASER and LIAR?   I don't think so, but some might say he is because "it's not the newest model out."

TRACTORS. WHEN ARE THEY NEW?

1. SHOPPERS and trader-inners, ARE ALWAYS RIGHT.  Usually would answer >>> "They day I purchased it or The day I first used it doing some real work."
Seldom are other considerations EVER MENTIONED.

1. LENDERS: The day the tractor roll off the assembly line and was assigned a 
serial number.  Valued by a number (+/- 20) of detail factors including the date an of 
manufacture. 

2. MANUFACTURERS: (Four correct answers)
a. Date serial number assigned
b. The day it is invoiced to the dealer
c. Date it is sold
d. Date it is placed into (work) service (as far as warranty considerations - with very few exceptions)

3. At Carver Equipment:
a. some of our friends are "the lenders"
b. some of our friends are "the manufacturer"
c. most of our friends are the "shoppers and trader-inners"
d. We stand with all our friends.

We try hard make a practice of giving the shopper all the information we have:
Date of manufacture and date first put into service.  There are times that the information is simply not available.  There are times we just have to take "as true" the history a customer gives when trading in a used unit.
